EMPLOYMENT

It’s been a while since I quit my job. I have never felt happier. I left behind the retail industry and I told myself I would never go back.

But the bank is nearly empty and the time has come to be an adult.

Gross.

I was graced with a job opportunity proctoring exams. Essentially, I’d be sitting there making sure people are doing their tests properly. Which will be rather interesting and different. But hey. It’s customer service in a different way. In a room where they aren’t allowed to speak! YES! HA! Sorry. Sorry. That was excited- I MEAN RUDE.

Other than this opportunity, my father came to me and offered me a job with his business, which makes virtually no money. I was skeptical, and still am, but he’s put me in charge of something that I’m fascinated by. I will be running his website. Which currently looks like this. Look at it. Look at how riveting it is.

Needless to say, it needs a lot of work, and while I know nothing about programming, I know some other stuff that might help. I’ve decided to spend 3 hours a day teaching myself how to run a webpage. Intellectually, I know what I need to do, but I need to work on putting those thoughts into action. It will certainly be a challenge, but a welcome one.

I’d like to now talk about how these jobs came into my life. For this, we will be shifting gears here and we’ll be talking about the Law of Attraction, a topic I’m very familiar with.

As stated in a previous post, gratitude is very important. Gratitude is what empowers us. So after quitting my retail job, I felt a weight lifted from my shoulders. I am pretty sure I spent the first week away from there in total bliss. A few weeks ago, when I was staring at my computer thinking about my blog and my life, I realized that I wanted to become productive again. I started feeling grateful for the money I had, for the opportunities I had, and for the things that I knew where on their way.

When one door closes, another door opens. Maybe not right away, but still. I started getting excited. I didn’t know what I was going to do, but I knew I would be working a job or jobs that would not only meet my annual salary goal, but wouldn’t be retail and would give me room to be creative. I focused on that for a few weeks. I now have basically two jobs that, when combined, pay rent, insurance, food, gas, bills, and a few other expenses while allowing me to save up for big things.

Guys. It worked. The Law of Attraction worked. I was given opportunities to work in fields that will allow my mind to wander into creative realms and even apply them. I will learn about myself, about my career(s), and about who and what I want to be. I’m baffled by these opportunities. I will keep you guys updated. I just thought I’d share that the Law of Attraction does, in fact, work.

Thank you guys for being you. You’re awesome. I’m proud to have you in my life. ^_^

Remember, if you’re going to dream, dream BIG!

Video of the Week: Doraleous and Associates

I’m going to pretend like this is a regular thing and who knows? Maybe it will become a regular thing.

For those of you who are not yet aware, I love YouTube. I think the idea of sharing videos with people is amazing thing and I love perusing the corridors of the World Wide Web Wilds in search of the things that make me happy. Chief among aforesaid things is my desire to laugh. My sense of humor is relatively stagnant, in that it doesn’t change as frequently as everything else in my life does, but lately I’ve been drawn to this kind of humor.

If you finished watching the episode (or skipped it to continue reading) instead of just leaving the page altogether, thank you. You and I can be friends.

-SPOILER ALERT-

My favorite character in this video (and throughout the show) is definitely the Lady of the Lake. Keeper of the mighty Zephyr Blade, the Lady of the Lake is a sarcastic Pond Woman with a pathological need to annoy people. You can imagine why I like her so much.

"Behold, DeLorean, the TRUE Zephyr Blade!"
“Behold, DeLorean, the TRUE Zephyr Blade!”

When asked, the Lady of the Lady will present adventurers and warriors from across the land with various objects (while claiming they are the true Zephyr Blade). She’s a sociopath who makes fun of the people who come to see her by sarcastically insulting their character or mispronouncing their names. She also sends people on ridiculous and life-threatening quests just for the fun of it. Probably bored with waiting for (possibly) thousands of years for the Chosen One to arrive and take the Zephyr Blade, or emotionally distanced because she’s tired of people coming to her and being disappointed in not receiving the magical blade of magicness, The Lady of Lake now seeks but one thing: entertainment.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, as well as Doraleous and Associates. May your day be a little better, the laughs a little heartier, and the may the Zephyr Blade be yours one day!

Dream big!

Fantasy Writing: Magic

The fantasy genre has many qualities about it that completely enthrall me. Among these qualities, one stands out above the rest: MAGIC.

Magic presents us with a variety of themes and feelings that thrill us. Mystical, mysterious, marvelous, and mischievous, magic presents us with a menagerie of majesty. Magic can create meaningful connections between characters, or unleash mayhem upon the world. It’s incredible. With a flick of a wand, spells can turn rats into water goblets. Muttering a binding can link one source of heat to another. Speaking the true name of something can give you power over it. Ingesting certain metals can give you special abilities. Magic presents us with the ability to do the impossible, while also giving us the burden of power. It’s a fantastic thing that brings a whole new level of complexity to a story.

So what about you? How do you use magic? Is it an elaborate system of do’s, don’ts, and rituals? Is it a simple, soft system or a complicated, hard magic? What is your favorite thing about magic? Comment below. I want to know.

ALSO, YOU SHOULD CHECK THIS OUT! I was made a moderator on this subreddit that’s devoted to magic systems. I’m trying to come up with new ideas for it. Right now, it’s just a place to post about your magic system, but I’m trying to figure out what else I can do with it. Magic-building activities or games, perhaps. Any ideas are appreciated. Go create a reddit account and post about your magic system. We want to hear about it! 😀

Love you all. Thanks for reading.

Want to Buy Some Magic?

Unicorns, fairies, and Harry Potter. All of these things have (at least) one thing in common. Can you guest what it is? Can you? I bet you can. Because you’re smart. You’re smart people….. Smart people.

Okay, so in case you’re having some trouble, I’m talking about magic. Magic, as defined by Google, is “the power to apparently influence the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces.” Telekinesis, weather manipulation, mind reading, and much more at the palm of your fingertips. That’s right. The palm. Of your fingertips. Because magic.

Let’s refine, redefine, and re-something-or-other this word. Simplify it. “Magic is the power to do what otherwise could not be done.” There. That wasn’t so hard. Example time! Magic would allow me to move objects from one place to the next without touching them. Magic would allow me to fly. Magic would allow me to see things no one else can. Magic would allow me to overcome any obstacle.

Now that we’ve seen some examples, let’s look at the real world and see if we can’t get the same or similar effects.

Magic would allow me to move objects from one place to another without touching them: Robots. Remote controls. Servants.

Magic would allow me to fly: Planes.

Magic would allow em to see things no one else can: Travel. Adventure. Exploration.

Magic would allow me to overcome any obstacle: Determination. Passion. Perseverance.

What can accomplish all these wonders? What is the fuel required to cast these spells? What is the mana of the real world? For me, personally, it’s that thing that has caused people to murder each other, caused empires to rise and fall, and caused the world itself to change. I’m talking about MONEY. Money is magic. Money can hire servants, open the door to travel, and it can buy passion. Money is a motivator. Money gives people power. Money gives people shelter. Money gives people security. People say money can’t buy happiness. This is absolutely true. But money can buy a heck of a lot of other things. Money can move mountains. Money can take us to the stars. Money is powerful.

Money isn’t everything. I promise. This is just a testament to what it can do. Granted you need other things to get money, etc. etc. But I’m just making a point here: There is magic in the world. There is magic everywhere you look. With this in mind, I pose a couple questions: Where do you see magic? What things do you consider magic? Comment below. Follow me. Yadda yadda.

Remember guys and gals: If you’re gonna dream, dream BIG!
